About

I am a retired music teacher living near Acle, Norfolk. Since the start of 2009 I have become something of a Photoshop addict - it started with papillons and other dogs, but soon I became enthralled by the program's endless possibilities, both beautiful and bizarre. I am no photographer; I simply "take photographs" and enjoy playing with them at home.

I am not aiming to start a business, nor produce pictures for profit; I just enjoy sharing the results of my exciting new hobby. I say exciting, because when I start a picture, I only half know where I will be led. Sometimes the effects that crop up produce a resounding inner "yes!" and each session promises a never-ending series of opening doors.

In some of my pictures I have incorporated angels or figures from stained glass windows by Sir Edward Burne-Jones. Also I have used those of his friend and colleague Henry Holiday; these latter examples come from the nearby Parish Church of Ormesby St.Michael. I am particularly drawn to their grace and rhythmic beauty, and make no apology for basing several of my pictures upon them.

Animals, especially dogs, are a favourite subject, and I am always very pleased to receive commissions for pet portraits, using either the owner's photographs or my own.

If by any chance I sell anything, any profit is donated to my village church.

Recently (2019) I have celebrated my progression into being an octogenarian by migrating into watercolour painting, and discarding all preconceived restrictions and restraints, am simply splashing about enjoying myself. I am sharing some of the results in the folder "Senior Moments".

If you have read as far as this, I thank you, and hope that you will find something among my work that you enjoy looking at. Comments would certainly be welcome. But most importantly, take note - it's never too late to start a new hobby!
